snowmobSnowmobiling/ATVing

There are numerous ATV and snowmobile trails in the mountains, as well as machine rental at the Bear River Lodge, just a 15-20 minute drive south from the Diamond X Guest Ranch in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.  There are a few county roads closer by that are available for recreational ATV use.

fishFishing

The Bear River runs through the ranch and is available to fish in.  The Sulfur Creek Reservoir, home of the annual ice-fishing derby, is 2 miles away, where fishing is also available any time of year.  In the Uinta Mountains there are numerous lakes, as well.  The Guild Ranch, great neighbors of ours, and famous for trophy fishing and hunting is just a few miles away.  Fishing licenses can be obtained in Evanston

boatingBoating

A day on the water can add a lot of fun to a vacation.  The Sulfur Creek Reservoir is convenient and great for boating, waterskiing, kayaking, and is renowned for windsurfing.  There is also a large recreational pond in Evanston, as well as a whitewater park, with kayaks and canoes available for rental from the Evanston Parks and Recreation Department.

Windsurfing

The Sulfur Creek Reservoir is renowned for great windsurfing, and there are clubs that come frequently to try wind and kite surfing here.  Equipment can be rented in Salt Lake City, and lessons are offered through Utah Wind Riders.

hikingHiking

In addition to the peaceful walking trails at the ranch, we are just a few minutes drive away from the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, with great hiking and backpacking trails in the Uinta Mountains.

campingCamping

If you’d rather “rough it” and live in a tent or RV, we invite you to pitch or park on the Guest Ranch, or there are wonderful campsites in the Wasatch-Cache National forest.  Camping permits for the forest can be picked up at the Bear River Lodge.

mountbikeMountain Biking

There is open space to explore the ranch on your mountain bike, but the Wasatch-Cache National Forest is also home to great Mountain Biking trails.  In August it hosts the annual Wolverine Ridge XC Mountain Bike race.

cyclingRoad Biking

This is also a road biking center.  There is a local biking club and team, great roads to pedal with beautiful views.  Evanston hosts the High Uintas Classic Road Bike race, from Kamas, over the top of the Uinta Mountains to Evanston.

uintaUinta Mountains

In addition to providing a beautiful backdrop to the ranch, the Uinta Mountains provide numerous outdoor recreation activities.  The Wasatch-Cache National Forest is a short drive (20 minutes) to the south of us, and is complete with high country backpacking trails, ATV trails, snowmobiling trails, mountain biking trails, and high mountain lakes for fishing and boating.
